We had a great and productive weekend. We painted the dining room and living room. Then on a whim we decided to change the decore of the dining room (completely). Lots of online research, several shopping trips, and hours of assembly and reorganizing later, and we now have a new dining room! Thank you IKEA! Whew!
Lydia helped with the assembly but not the painting. She was the crew boss.
And thanks to Grandma Becky for all the help and babysitting. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Lydia had pancakes for the first time yesterday and loved them… Daddy’s vegan whole wheat cinnamon pancakes. Mmm.
She was especially excited when grandma Becky let her have her own big piece. She could not contain the excitement. It ended with lots of pounding and crumbs everywhere.

Most days Lydia completes a thorough inspection of the cat door. It still appears to be functional.
Could one ask for better built in playtime fun?

Yesterday Lydia started waving, really waving (well, baby backwards waving). She’s waved here and there, but now she understands that waving starts a wave fest among those around you.
Sometimes she initiates the waving and sometimes she responds to our waving. When she starts the waving and we wave back, she looks at us in amazment as if she’s thinking “woah, look what I can make them do!”.

Do a few steps taken alone count as the first steps? Or does it need to be more? However you label it, Lydia has taken a few steps by herself, no hands. Paul witnessed the first a few days ago, and I’ve seen a few since.
Lydia has also been standing by herself, no hands. Always for 5 seconds or so, but by herself and surprisingly balanced. And she’s able to squat down once she’s done rather than face-plant. She usually stands to inspect a toy with 2 hands rather than just one. Funny what motivates us when we’re little.

Lydia helped Daddy with his 2009 business strategy. It looks like she contributed some sound ideas.

Lately Lydia has lots of fun in the tub, splashing and playing with toys. Here is a glimpse at her tub time fun.

I thought it would be fun to capture some of Lydia’s usual daily activities. Here is a video of some of the things Lydia does during the day lately. Enjoy! Watch the video

Lydia got a new tub. Claude, one of her cat brothers, “took care of” her last one. We found it deflated one morning with his cork (one of his toys) nearby. I can only imagine the party he must have had.
We looked for a molded plastic tub, but the only ones we found were for small babies. So we opted for another inflatable tub, a cute duck tub with a bonus: the beak quacks. Tee hee.
We used it last night for the first time and Lydia loves it. She can lean back in this one and relax. Plus, it quacks! Did I mention that?
