Just today I noticed a few things that Lydia has started doing…

She’s starting to get much better control over her hands. She’s finally really into grabbing and eating her toys. She doesn’t yet put her hand out to get it, but if you give it to her she hangs on and in the mouth it goes… whatever it is. She even held her taggie doll like she was hugging a baby doll today. She doesn’t yet realize it, but that’s what she did. Also, I noticed she tried to touch my face this morning when I was feeding her (which is also new).

And She’s started to really look at books. She studies the illustrations and looks at every page now. She really likes the colors and patterns of the illustrations in the “Daddy Hugs” book.

Oh, and she turns when you call her name. Don’t know if she knows it’s her name yet, but she’s responding to it or at least to our talking.

Here’s a video I took of Lydia today… Watch Lydia with her toy

Lydia and I had several shopping adventures this week. She had her first trip to Publix, Target, Ace Hardware, and the post office. She and I both did great on all trips. I think she’s old enough and I’m used to this enough that errands will be part of our routine again. :-D

We weighed and measured Lydia last week. We’re up to 15.5 lbs and 25 inches now. She’ll be 4 months old next week. I can’t believe time is flying by!

Another new development for Lydia this week is kicking her feet way up high and dropping them. She especially loves doing this in her crib where she can kick her mobile friends and make them move.

Giggling is new, too. This week when I was getting her ready for her bath she surprised me with a laugh when I touched her underarms. Before she’d laugh every once in a while and now it’s definitely frequent.

Lydia can see much further these days, too. She’ll now see us and smile at us from across the room. And she loves to look at the patterns on our t-shirts now. She’ll stare in fascination.

Just this week Lydia has become fascinated by her feet. She’ll stare back and forth following the movements of each foot in complete awe of the whole thing. You can see the gears turning.

We went in last week for a concepting meeting. It was Lydia’s first. :-D

One of our favorite passtimes is spending time outside when the weather’s nice. This day we went out with the carrier.

Last Sunday was Lydia and Paul’s first Father’s Day. We had a quiet day at home, just the three of us. Lydia gave Daddy a “Daddy Hugs” board book that they can read together and a card with her footprints. It was a very special day.
