Lydia’s new favorite toy at the park.

November 4th, 2009

We had a fun Halloween. Lydia dressed up as a kitty cat, and a cute one, at that! We made the costume from one of Zoe’s dresses. I made the tail, and we gave her whiskers.

On Halloween we started at the neighborhood party, where Lydia mostly observed. Then we trick-or-treated at three houses: Mr. White’s, GranDot’s, and one more. They were delighted to see her. After a while Lydia got into it, showing people her tail and checking her whiskers out in the mirror. She loved carrying her pumpkin and collecting things in it. She didn’t know it was candy. She doesn’t know what candy is. I’m sure she will next year, though!

We had a wonderful memorial day weekend. Paul took an extra day off, so we had 4 days. It was super fun and relaxing. On Saturday, we had a bbq party with a few of our friends to estrenar Paul’s new bbq grill. It was perfect weather and we had tons of fun.

We went to Waffle House this morning for Easter breakfast since the power is out. WH is turning into our holiday breakfast place, and that’s alright by me. :-)

Lydia had a ball, and everyone loved her. She smiled at everyone, showed them her waffle pieces, and talked loudly (like everyone else).

Lydia’s a smart cookie. When we sat down, she saw the highchair and knew it was for her. She asked us to put her in the chair immediately. She’s only sat in a few restaurant highchairs, but she still knew this one was for her. Cute.

WH is the perfect restaurant for Lydia. They serve quickly, it’s noisy, and there’s lots of stuff going on. I’m sure we’ll return soon.

Yesterday we had a fun adventure. We went on an Easter egg hunt at the park with the MOMS Club. There were about 15 kids, ranging from 3 months to 7 years. Lydia joined the rest on the hunt. She was happy with just one egg. That was really all she needed since it rattled. She loves socializing and had a fun morning. The playground and the slide were also great fun for her.

Lydia and I celebrated Valentine’s Day with all the kids from the MOMS Club on Friday. She was a bit overwhelmed at times by all the kids (~30 kids ranging from 7 weeks to ~5 years old). She enjoyed watching the kids play and run, and she even interacted with a few. I’m sure she’ll get more and more used to playing with them as we go to more events.

(Again, catching up on my posts…)

Lydia had lots of fun with her cousins when they visited after Christmas last year. Both Sage and Clay are super sweet with her. They played with her, fed her, helped her walk, read books and much, much more. Lydia loves them both and had a great time. They are super cousins, and we hope to see them again soon!

(Sometimes I get behind on my posts, and this is one of them. Here it is, better late than never.)

On New Year’s day we decided to start off the year with a nice, brisk hike. We went back to Arabia mountain and hiked along their new bike path. We tried taking Lydia in the stroller, but most of the time she preferred either walking or being held by mama. I think she was hungry, and when she’s hungry only two things will satisfy… mama holding her or eating. In any case, it was a beautiful day, and we had a fun hike.

As Lydia gets older (like she’s sooo old) we get to see more and more of her personality. Recently I’ve learned that she’s very social and not at all shy. (She gets that from daddy, I’m sure.) She loves people and interacting with them.

Last week we had three holiday parties and Lyds was a champ party-goer at all. The first was one my friend Anne threw while she was in town visiting. It was great to see everyone and super fun to see Lydie interact with little people her age. There was Sam (4), Sarah (2.5), and Luke (1). Lydia loved them all and had fun interacting and sharing toys. She loved it so much I need to find more frequent opportunities for her to do so.
